Tractor Mount Garlic Planter
Designed for efficient, scalable garlic planting in commercial and serious small-farm systems.
New stock arrives in late summer each year in preparation for the garlic planting window. The listed price includes GST and local delivery. Due to the size and weight of the machine, freight can vary depending on location — we recommend requesting a freight quote for accurate total landed cost.
Product Overview
Our garlic planter is a robust, adaptable machine suited to entry-level and expanding commercial garlic operations. Clients typically report planting approximately 1 hectare in 8–10 hours with the 6-row configuration, depending on field conditions and setup.
The planter is modular and available in 4, 5, 6 or 8 row configurations. A 4- or 5-row setup can be achieved by removing seeder boxes from the standard 6-row model, allowing flexibility.
Key Specifications (Standard 4 to 6 Row Model)
Minimum row spacing: 15 cm
Working width: 114 cm
Total width: 135 cm
Shipping dimensions (crate): 145 cm (W) × 148 cm (L) × 90 cm (H)
Weight: Approx. 150 kg
Key Specifications (8 Row Model)
Minimum row spacing: 15 cm
Working width: 139 cm
Total width: 160 cm
Shipping dimensions (crate): 145 cm (W) × 170 cm (L) × 90 cm (H)
Weight: Approx. 170 kg
Setup & Adjustments (On Arrival)
The planter is shipped in a wooden crate and requires minor setup prior to first use. Key adjustments include:
Linkage angle: Adjust the 3-point linkage to optimise tracking on the bed.
Plow shoe depth: Set planting depth to suit soil and crop requirements.
Plow shoe width: Narrow settings reduce soil build-up and improve flow.
Row spacing: Seeder boxes slide along the drive bar; spacing adjustable from 15 cm to full working width.
In-row spacing: Controlled by gear selection; spacing ranges from approximately 65 mm to 130 mm.
Tractor mounting points: Adjustable to suit different tractor sizes.
Smudge bar spring rate: Adjust tension to ensure consistent soil coverage.
Clove Size & Planting Efficiency
Best performance is achieved using graded planting material. Wide variation in clove size may result in occasional double planting of small cloves, while oversized cloves typically perform reliably.
When correctly set up with uniform cloves, the planter can be operated by a single driver without the need for rear monitoring, aside from periodic bin refilling.
Two cup sizes are supplied as standard:
2.5 cm yellow and black adjustable cup
3.3 cm grey (maximum size)
These cover the majority of planting requirements. Additional cups can be added to pre-orders if required.
Ordering, Delivery & Planning
To align with manufacturing and shipping timelines, machines are imported seasonally for autumn delivery.
Deposit: $900 to secure a machine
Deposit by end of November: Expected February farm delivery
Deposit by end of January: Expected end of March farm delivery
Some units may be available outside the main intake, however availability varies. Pre-booking secures supply, locks in pricing, and avoids missing your planting window. Units typically sell out by some time in April.
