Tractor-Mounted Root Crop Harvester
A PTO-driven, 3-point linkage root crop harvester designed for potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic and similar underground crops.
The machine uses a vibrating front digging knife to enter beneath the crop row and lift the soil and crop onto the rear separation web. Large vertical side-cutting discs run either side of the digging section, slicing through soil, roots, vines and crop residue before it reaches the lifting mechanism. This helps define the harvested strip and reduces material wrapping or jamming around the digging assembly.
Key Features
Vibrating digging knife – works beneath the crop row to loosen and lift soil while reducing the draft required compared with a fixed blade.
Twin side-cutting discs – cut through roots, vines and compacted bed edges ahead of the harvester, helping maintain a clean crop flow and reduce blockages.
PTO-driven separation web – carries the lifted soil and crop rearwards while shaking loose soil through the bars.
Open-bar conveyor design – provides progressive soil separation while retaining potatoes and other harvested crops.
Adjustable digging depth – allows the machine to be set below the crop according to planting depth and soil conditions.
Depth / gauge wheels – help maintain a more consistent working depth as field contours change.
Protected chain and drive system – enclosed side guards protect the main transmission components from soil and crop residue.

Harvesting Process
Cut → loosen → lift → separate → discharge
The side discs first cut the edges of the crop row. The vibrating digging knife then travels underneath the crop and lifts it together with the surrounding soil onto the separation web. As the material moves rearwards, soil falls through the open bars while the crop continues across the machine and is deposited behind the harvester for collection.
