Product Overview
Our garlic planter is a highly adaptable and efficient machine suited to entry level commercial garlic operations. It is available in 4, 5, 6, 8, or 12-row configurations. A 4 or 5-row setup can be achieved by removing seeder boxes from the 6-row model.
Key Specifications (for standard 4 to 6 row model):
- Minimum row spacing: 15 cm
- Working width: 114 cm
- Total width: 135 cm
- Shipping dimensions (crate): 145 cm W × 148 cm L × 90 cm H
- Weight: Approx. 150 kg
Adjustments Required Upon Arrival
The planter is shipped in a wooden crate and requires setup. The following adjustments should be made before first use:
- Linkage angle: Adjust the 3-point linkage to optimise the machine’s footprint and tracking on the bed.
- Plow shoe depth: Set the desired planting depth; this allows for considerable flexibility based on soil and crop requirements.
- Row spacing: Seeder boxes slide along the drive bar to adjust row spacing. Standard spacing ranges from 15 cm to the full working width.
- Plow shoe width: Adjust narrower to minimise soil build-up and improve flow.
- In-row spacing: Controlled by gear selection. Clove drop spacing can range from 65 mm to 130 mm.
- Tractor mounting points: Adjustable to suit different tractor sizes.
- Smudge bar spring rate: Adjust tension to ensure effective coverage of planted cloves.
Clove Size & Planting Efficiency
For best performance, graded cloves should be used. A wide variation in clove size may cause small cloves to double plant. Oversized cloves generally perform better with fewer issues. When set up correctly with uniform planting material, the machine can be operated by a single driver without a rear monitoring crew—aside from periodic bin refills. We supply 2 cup sizes as standard - 2.5cm Yellow and black adjustable cup, and grey 3.3cm max size. Between these two cups we find that most applications are covered for. Extra cups can be added to pre-orders if desired.
